Nov 23 | Chuck returns to NBC with a special two-hour show on Sunday, Jan 10, 2010, before returning to its regular time slot, Mondays at 8pm on the following night. It's return to prime time television can be attributed to a successful fan renewnal campaign last year. CHUCK is a one-hour, action-comedy series that follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. This upcoming season will include some special guest stars, including Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns" who will play CIA agent Daniel Shaw in an episode, and the addition of SUBWAY restaurant as a major advertiser to the show. Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. STAR TREK VOYAGER's Robert Duncan McNeill serves Chuck as a supervising producer and director.
Nov 17 | Originally hired as co-executive producer to help with the second half of the show's first season, Kevin Murphy has now taken the reins of Caprica, the Battlestar Galactica prequel on Syfy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He now serves as an executive producer along with Ronald D. Moore, David Eick and Jane Espenson and oversees the day-to-day functions of the show.
Nov 12 | Star Trek star Zachary Quinto is loosely attached to star in the romantic dramedy Whirligig, reports Risky Business.Quinto would play the lead role in the independent Canadian film, which is aiming to shoot early next year. The movie centers on a man who, in a misguided attempt to woo an older woman, befriends the woman's adopted son.Chaz Thorne is directing the pic, based on a screenplay by Michael Amo, creator of the Canadian supernatural series "The Listener."
Nov 11 | The CNS Foundation, is hosting an on-line charity auction at www.charitybuzz.com. One of the items they are auctioning is a signed movie poster of the new Star Trek movie which has all the cast members and writers. The president of our organization is Carol Abrams, JJ's mother, and she arranged for the donation from Bad Robot Production Company. J.J. Abrams is also a major donor to their organization. The funds raised will go to help find a cure to neurological disorders in children. The auction link is here.
Nov 10 | Candice Bergen, Charles Lisanby, Don Pardo, Gene Roddenberry, Tom and Dick Smothers and Bob Stewart have been selected as the next inductees into the Television Academy's Hall of Fame. They will be honored at a Jan. 20 ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel. "This year's inductees have challenged and shaped popular culture, changed television for the better and entertained us royally while doing so," TV Academy Chairman-CEO John Shaffner said. IESB posted an exclusive video interview with Star Trek star Zachary Quinto at the San Diego ComicCon, in which he talks about the Spock role in J.J. Abrams upcoming Star Trek movie. Here are a few excerpts from the video interview.
IESB: Were you a fan of Star Trek?
Quinto: "I was a fan, but I wasn't a fanatic. I feel like I have a lot to learn about the mythology, and the lexicon of the mythology. It's very Shakespearean to me. I was saying before, I find it a very theatrical, very heightened world. There's something that, you know -- I studied Shakespeare for a lot of years in school -- and I feel really drawn to that level of mythology. So, I'm really excited to immerse myself in it. I have four months before we start, so I'm going to be doing a lot of reading, and a lot of research, about the context of the world that we're entering into. I'm excited to be a part of it in this new imagining."
IESB: One of the things I love about Spock is he's half Human, half Vulcan. He controlled his human side, his emotions, but he's had a struggle. Is that something we're going to explore in the movie?
Quinto: "I think that's going to be a lot of the journey of the character. You meet him at a time in his life where he's probably not as grounded in his certitude toward, uh, toward -- one of the misconceptions I had was that Vulcans didn't possess emotions, but Vulcans choose not to engage their emotional side. I think that's going to be something that's really interesting to explore, since he is half Human and half Vulcan."

SCI FI Wire also posted a new interview with Quinto, in which he says that he will approach the role from the inside out, rather than trying to mimic the original performance of Star Trek star Leonard Nimoy. Here are excerpts from the article.
Quinto said that he and director Abrams had discussed how to approach the iconic character. "I don't think it's really about-and J.J. and I had a conversation about this early on-it's not about recreating anything," Quinto said. "It's about reimagining it. And I feel like I'll do that in my own way. I don't know what that's going to be yet, but that's what my process is. We'll figure it out as time goes on."
He was pleased to have Nimoy's blessing. "He's just incredibly gracious, and to have his support and his involvement in this, ... you can't ask for anything more than that," Quinto said. "To step into a role that's so iconic, but to do it with the guidance and approval of and the excitement of the man that created it is, you can't ask for more."

Trek 11 isn't a reimagining, a reboot, or anything of the sort.
I've noticed that bloggers who hate prequels hope ST:XI gets a bad rap among fans. One way to fuel this is to spin the movie as a reboot. Too many fans will believe anything they read, even pure BS.
It's highly unlikely that Nimoy would sign on for a reboot, or any drastic detour from the characterizations that he helped mold. As for sweeping changes to the TOS paradigm: When told about the update (remastering) of TOS episodes by CBS/Paramount, last year, Nimoy's first response was "shame on them", asserting that meddling with context is "out of bounds". Nimoy's work on ST:XI was conditional: "If I thought they had a project of merit."
Nimoy is old school, and protective of TOS.
This accords with everything said by JJ Abrams, who has repeatedly assured fans that his movie shall honour the existing material. His comments express concern about numerous "incarnations" of Trek.
"Being involved with a series that has a passionate and vocal following makes me incredibly sympathetic", said JJ toward Trek fans. "They have put up with so many incarnations along the way. These fans, they are a smart bunch. They are an intelligent group. We are very respectful and we have no intention of subverting the material."
