I just wish we could get ahold of the CGI Gorn already, I'm curious what type of modifications they've done to the species and what the spec designs for the creature are...

... Let's just say they took some liberties with the original design. Kind of cartoonish in my opinion. Guess CGI just ain't what it's cracked up to be.

          AAHHHH!

          SO sorry!

This was totally a joke. It was supposed to be a cartoon of Skeletor from Masters of the Universe.

Without the image, the joke is lost and the subject line is torture.

Again apologies. I am an ass.

but here is the URL of the pic if you still want to get the joke: http://www.cedmagic.com/featured/he-man/skeletor.jpg

I totally agree, and I'm just itching to see a Tholian as well. Was what we saw in "The Tholian Web" a hood, a helmet, a carapace, or an artificial projection of some sort?

How much you wanna bet that the Gorn on "Enterprise" is about 20 times faster and more agile than the one Kirk fought in "Arena"?

Personally, as big a "continuity-weenie" as I consider myself to be, I don't care very much WHAT they do, as long as it's good. Entertain me, fellows! I'm up for anything cool.

Boy, I couldn't have said that a year or two ago.

But Coto and Sussman and the Reeves-Stevenses were for sure on a roll in the fourth season. Some really good Trek for the first time in a long time. I can't wait to see what they did with the Gorn and the Tholians.

    And the "Defiant". Mmmmmmm!

The Tholians should be interesting. Every novel has explained them to be a crystalline-non-humanoid form entity.

So what we saw on TOS could truly be their real form. I always hoped...but never recieved...that the factor remaind that the Tholians were just wearing armor and that wasn't their true form so it would be easier for me to comprehend when reading the novels...but that took the fun out of it...so it should be interesting to see these Tholians.

As for the Gorn, there was a comic drawn some years ago, I think it was called "The Gorn Crisis", and the storyline was essentially that ENTERPRISE-E was sent to Gorn space to ask for aide during the Dominion War. The Gorn were drawn like the Velociraptors from Jurassic Park, except with more humanoid features. Amazing drawings, hopefully this is the design we're getting for "Darkly"...geeeze, I'm like a kid a X-Mas...how much longer!

THE GORN CRISIS is one of the best STAR TREK comic books ever.

The 80-page graphic novel pits Captain Picard against the classic reptilian villains, the Gorn. This fully-painted book, with art by Igor Kordey, fills in a large gap in Trek's history, explaining what the Enterprise was doing during the Dominion War.

The Gorn Crisis begins with Picard studying tapes of his predecessor's encounter with the alien leader from "Arena" (naturally, Kirk has his shirt ripped). The Enterprise-E hopes to recruit Gorn assistance against the Dominion. Unfortunately, their timing couldn't be worse. The Gorn have just suffered an insurrection led by the Black Crest, an aggressive warrior caste who believe Kirk's defeat of their leader at Cestus III marks the beginning of the decline of Gorn civilization. When Picard beams down to the Gorn council chambers, only to find the leaders slaughtered, Black Crest leader Slessshh takes the away team hostage. Data must decide whether to rely on diplomacy or force to contend with the new Gorn regime.

Riker cannot assume command of the Enterprise because he has accompanied Klingon Commander Qyrll to Elkauron II. The cruiser Gar'tukh is escorting scientists from the Starfleet Corps of Engineers to bring new satellite defenses online. When the Black Crest's General Khaaarr launches Gorn assaults against Federation outposts on Cestus III and Elkauron II, the Enterprise's first officer must convince a group of rebellious Klingons to support the disgraced Qyrll as they take the battle from the surface of the planet into space.

I have the graphic novel, I never did collect the actual comics. But this was by far one of the best Trek-related storylines ever.

You know, thinking about this. This is about the Gorn "Insurrection". If the powers that be had turned this into a movie script and made the actual movie "Insurrection" about what this comic was about it would: 1) Make sense continuity wise and 2) Made one hell of a movie...

Agree, GORN CRISIS would be a much better movie than INSURRECTION and NEMESIS. Too bad STAR TREK XI will be a prequel.

I advice you to get another STAR TREK TOS graphic novel titled DEBT OF HONOR. This one is a must-have, with awesome story and art !

This story has the crew of the Starship Enterprise NCC 1701-A engaging in an unsanctioned rendezvous with some Romulans and Klingons, to combat a galactic enemy none of their governments acknowledges even exists. While, through flashbacks, we see how Captain Kirk gradually became aware of the menace...and of his relationship with a half-Vulcan, half-Romulan woman, T'Cel.

It's atmospherically illustrated by Adam Hughes and inked and coloured, while Chris Claremont is deemed an A-list comic writer (or at least a B+ one) who obviously has a lot of affection for the material.

I can't wait to see that baby in a firefight...

I'd imagine that the Gorn race is more aggressive in the mirror universe.

        Good points, both of you.

I wouldn't bet against the idea that the Defiant will be a "souped-up" Constitution-class....they've already said it was a newer ship than the TOS Enterprise.

And, hell yeah, why wouldn't the Gorn be more aggressive in the mirror universe? Sounds good to me. Bring it on!
