U.S.S. Voyager to Undergo Extended Refit in Upcoming Voyager Full Circle Design Project

Features

By GustavoLeao / 03:31, 30 August 2010 / Voyager

Designer Mark Rademaker has announced in his blog his plans for a complete refit of the U.S.S. Voyager, now under command of Captain Chakotay in the Star Trek Voyager novels. The plan, called Voyager Full Circle, includes several updates to the hull, new warp nacelles and a new deflector.

Rademaker is a digital artist who has contributed three images to three consecutive Ships of the Line calendars, all of which have featured original starship designs. His design for the Vesta-class USS Aventine is also due to appear on the cover of the forthcoming The Typhon Pact novel Zero Sum Game.

"After positive feedback from [Voyager designer] Rick Sternbach, I decided to push forward with the Voyager "Full Circle" refit." he wrote in his blog.

"The ship probably saw a major refit after it returned from the Delta Quadrant, so that does leave some room for changes. I do have some ideas, but I want to be careful not to take them too far..."

TrekWeb will keep you updated on this project.

You can read a list of the changes to the original design and his first sketch of the Voyager refit here.

but do we have any idea when the next book is due out? Seems like it's been a while since we had the last one.

So I browsed over to his blog, and saw a neat looking ship in a rotating image gallery and clicked it.

but I don't really see the point of this. The intrepid class is already a great looking ship. And since they are already back in the D.Q. I'd like to know how he plans on doing this refit. In the story Voyager is now no different than any other ship of her class.
