Washington, D.C. (August 30, 2010) -- Last year's Star Trek remake was named the best Blu-ray release of 2009 in a consumer poll conducted by Home Media Magazine.
The publication said Star Trek won three awards in its annual High-Def Awards. In addition to best overall Blu-ray release, Star Trek brought home the 'Best Theatrical Blu-ray' award and the 'Best Single Extra' for its Starfleet Vessel Simulator feature.
The consumers also named Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen as offering the best 'Picture Quality' among Blu-ray releases last year and PBS' The National Parks as the best nonfiction Blu-ray release. The PBS series was produced by Ken Burns.
In other categories, 'The Best TV on Blu-ray' award was split between HBO's True Blood: The Complete First Season and Universal's Battlestar Galactica" the Complete Series Limited Edition.
