Star Trek Online's Season 2: Ancient Enemies update is about a month into it's launch and Cryptic Studios continues to add content to their flagship MMO. Just released is a brand new iconic Trek ship made famous Captain Hikaru Sulu, the Excelsior-Class.

The Excelsior Class Retrofit is available now in the C-store for 1200 Cryptic Point. Check out a description below.

A retrofit of the iconic Excelsior class as seen in Star Trek: Generations, this ship has the weapons and power needed to tackle anything from a training cruise in the Sol system to a race to the Galactic Barrier. The Advanced Heavy Cruiser Retrofit has eight weapons slots (4 fore, 4 aft), seats for five Bridge Officers (Lieutenant Commander Tactical, Commander Engineering, Lt. Engineering, Ensign Engineering, and Lt. Science) and space for nine console modifications (4 Engineering, 3 Tactical, 2 Science). It carries a crew of 750 and features a Transwarp Drive that can be activated in system space for rapid travel to the Alpha Centauri, Sirius, Regulus, Pi Canis, Psi Velorum, Iota Pavonis, Eta Eridani, Beta Ursae and Alpha Trianguli Sector Blocks. Note: This ship may only be purchased by Federation captains that have attained Rear Admiral or higher rank. Purchasing this ship from the C-Store unlocks this ship with the "Enterprise-B" ship costume as well as the classic "Excelsior" ship costume for all Federation Rear Admirals on an account. I must agree with Gustavo.

The five minutes of Enterprise porn in TMP is worth every moment. Nothing matches it in terms sheer grace.

I don't mind the Excelsior at all, but I've always been slightly put off by its beer belly.

The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism — ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. ” — Franklin D. Roosevelt, "Message from the President of the United States Transmitting Recommendations Relative to the Strengthening and Enforcement of Anti-trust Laws.”

"If this is your God, he's not very impressive. He has so many psychological problems; he's so insecure. He demands worship every seven days. He goes out and creates faulty Humans and then blames them for his own mistakes. He's a pretty poor excuse for a Supreme Being." ---Gene Roddenberry

...or is the Excelsior possibly the best Federation ship we've ever seen on screen? It's elegant, looks like a ship of peace, but also looks like it could handle itself during a time of war, as well. Nothing ungainly or out of proportion, nothing juts out in a way that looks like it could be shot off the ship with a single phaser blast.

Yep. If I could captain any Federation starship, I think I might just choose the Excelsior!
