By GustavoLeao / 02:36, 19 August 2010 / Star Trek: Nemesis

An alleged Paramount e-mail has leaked to The Wrap website and, with it, a lengthy list of possible upcoming projects.

Though a Paramount rep told the site that the document is not official and that some of the information is inaccurate, several of the titles listed are supported by recent trade stories.

but bad acting is bad acting,

I don't know. It's far too simplified. What is "bad acting"? I really never understood that concept.

You know, there lots of great actors with a certain larger-than-life presence...Patrick Stewart, Christopher Lee or Ian McKellen to name a few. That's great acting, but always a bit of "stage acting" involved. They are great because they effectively overact to a certain degree. That defines their presence. They got that from stage acting.

Then there are standard actors who can just play characters pretty close to their own personalities. They may play themselves to a certain degree but in a way they are closer to reality, because they behave like you and me... No one does "act" in real life, but we all play "our roles" in a certain way.

I think that's what happened in this movie. The kids played kids, the grown-ups played grown-ups, nothing outstanding, nothing to rave about but it was sufficient. Would Christopher Lee have done a better job as that older Firebender? For sure! But what I've seen was well sufficient...

I liked the Last Airbender cast a lot for being a lot more grounded and less over the top than so many famous actors. They just did their thing and behaved like any Tom, Dick and Harry. If that's bad acting then bad acting actually feels a lot more natural to me than "good acting"...

bad dialogue is bad dialogue,

Basically all six Star Wars movies had bad dialogue but none of them (except Ep I maybe) was a bad movie because of that.

bad pacing is...well you get the point.

The movie felt quite fluent and natural to me. I liked the pacing. I felt that some aspects were missing but apart from that, I liked the overall pace a lot. The focus was on the grand final battle and they may have rushed it a bit in parts but that doesn't make it a bad movie.

Those cartoon actors were far better than the "flesh and blood" actors on the big screen. Do yourself a favour and rent the eps. I think you'll realize how bad the movie was.

Honestly, I doubt that very much. I have stated before that I can't take cartoons seriously for dramatic purposes. I like comedy cartoons and funny CGI movies though. But when it comes to drama, cartoons are a no-go for me.

There was a lot of positive buzz regarding the 1990s Batman Animated series. As a collector, I got all DVDs, I got Superman Animated and Justice League. But I never managed to get into any of them.

Cartoons are so insufficient that I'd prefer the worst live-action flick to any cartoon series or animated movie. They are nothing more but storyboards in motion, crying for a worthy live-action adaptation.

One of the very few animated series I have watched is Neon Genesis Evangelion: a great story, a great score and it felt exciting and very gritty. But the only thing I could think about after finishing it: please turn this into a live-action franchise!

I'm sorry, but that's just the way I feel about cartoons and animes.

Well, some people will be very happy to see that a sequel to "The Last Airbender" is neither on Para's top priority list nor on the other list.

Personally, I don't like that decision at all. Having just seen that movie for the first time, I have to say it is far better than I came to expect after all that negative buzz here and on other websites.

It is far from perfect, and yes, the dialogue is not Shakespeare to say the least, but I very much enjoyed it. I loved the visuals and I can't say the actors were THAT bad at all. They could have done far worse.

Well, I don't know the original anime but even I could feel that a lot must have been left out. It seemed a bit rushed. Nonetheless, it overall felt great.
I watched in 2D only so I can't comment on the quality of the obviously ilfated 3D renderings. But since I'm not interested in any 3D movies apart from Avatar 2+3 (Cameron's Avatar that is). I don't mind...

I'll give it a B+ and I definitely don't loike the fact Para seems to have abandoned the project. Of course, lots of people will cheer...:(
