Former Actress Robin Curtis is Still Pleased to be Part of the Star Trek Franchise

Suite101.com posted a new interview with former actress Robin Curtis, best known for playing the role of Lt. Saavik in Star Trek III The Search for Spock and Star Trek IV The Voyage Home. Here are excerpts of the article.

The positive message behind Trek-that the future is bright and full of adventure-took Curtis a while to comprehend. She had never been a real Star Trek fan before landing the Saavik role, but has since immersed herself in the lore of future history.

"Who knows why the hell these things come to us? I'm just pleased to be part of something I consider to be a good thing," Curtis said. "I like what I've learned and how these people think. I hate to stereotype, but on the whole, I find the fans to be interesting, thoughtful, fun-loving people."

"My association with Star Trek has been nothing but beneficial, really. To think I'm still generating income from a job (so many) years ago is astonishing," she said.

The full interview is here.

but, being on Cheers at the time, her asking price was too large.

So Meyer created Valeris.

I always liked her | Report this post to moderator

I thought she came into a tough position, following up Kirstie after the huge hit of Trek II, and she did a great job. I remember speculation ran rampant after Trek III that Savik was pregers with Spock's baby. She had a cameo in IV, I'm sure to keep that question burning--and unanswerable--which was a disappointment for me. She even came back to do a nice two parter on Next Gen, "Gambit." She even donned mucho makeup for Babylon 5.

All in all, I missed her not being a further part of the movie franchise. A class act.
