Movie Score Magazine reports that Star Trek composer and Academy Award winner Micheal Giacchino will provide the score for the upcoming science fiction movie John Carter of Mars, which will be Pixar stalwart Andrew Stanton's live-action directorial debut. Here is an excerpt of their report.

The movie is based on the Edgar Rice Burroughs novels and stars Samantha Morton, Dominic West, Polly Walker and Willem Dafoe.

The story takes place on the planet Mars where Civil War veteran John Carter (Taylor Kitsch) is imprisoned by 12-foot tall green creatures, escapes and encounter the Princess of Helium.

The film will premiere in 2012.

Geee, I think I posted the wrong image. Is that Conan The Barbarian ? LOL

Just kidding, I am a big fan of pulp heroes and John Carter of Mars is my favorite. I still remember the Marvel Comics comic book version of John Carter in the 1970s.

Cant wait.
