First Look at Doug Drexler's Enterprise NX-01 Refit from 2011 Ships of the Line Calendar

By GustavoLeao / 05:01, 8 February 2010 / Enterprise

On his blog Doug Drexler has revealed the first look at a centerfold from the 2011 Star Trek Ships of the Line calendar, with profiles of the Enterprise NX-01 refit (which could be used in a proposed fifth season of Star Trek Enterprise), and the old Enterprise XCV-330 ringship, modelled by Mark Rademaker, with text by Michael Okuda.

Enough with the "rip-off" nonsense | Report this post to moderator

I agree...before, the NX was an Akira class rip off, now it's a Nova class rip off.

So because the NX-01 has approximately the same saucer and nacelle arrangement as the Akira, you guys call it a "rip-off"? Yet when any of the Enterprises or the Excelsior have the exact same arrangement as all the other ships before them, they're not ripping each other off? I don't recall you guys screaming bloody murder when the Nebula-class came out, calling it a "Reliant rip-off" did you?

There is such a thing in a fleet (be it space-based or naval) called "design lineage". Did you ever think about that? Of course you haven't because "Akiraprise" is too tired and gimmicky a monniker to resist. The layout of the first Enterprise aircraft carrier from WWII is the same as that of the USS George Bush that is about to be commissioned -- a long, flat deck with a single island in the middle set off to one side. These two ships were built 70 years apart and I don't hear anyone calling the Bush a rip-off of those early carriers.

As for "not being primative enough"... The NX-01 when seen next to a Constitution-class vessel in "In the Mirror Darkly" looked vastly inferior due to its smaller size and primative hull plating. The art depertment couldn't go much more primative than that because a tugboat in space like design would not be strong enough to carry a television show.

Wow, I must admit, the NX-01 looks beatiful with the secondary hull. Now I want a fifth season of Enterprise LOL
