There are rumors going around the net that Khan will be on Star Trek XII, and according to ComingSoon.net, the front runner for the role of the new Khan is Lost actor Nestor Carbonell. Khan was played by the late actor Ricardo Montalban in the first season TOS episode Space Seed and the 1982 movie Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan.

I guess not Mt Seleya itself but the priestress there would necessary to conduct Fal'Tor'Pan. They brought Spock to Mt Seleya because the priestress lived and worked there. If she or other members of her order were part of those Vulcans saved in time, there is still a chance it could work. But anyway, I don't think they'll ever use this cheesy plot device again!

He does look like a young Ricardo Montalban in some ways.

Bottom line: We're not going to see a genetic clone of Montalban reprising his role. Maybe in 20-30 years when computer technology (as witnessed by James Cameron's forthcoming "Avatar", among other films) makes it possible to create entire lifelike movies with the original actors in CG. ("So, honey, which version of the new Bond film are we seeing? The Connery, Moore, Brosnan or Craig one?")

You think I'm fantasizing or kidding, I'm not. At some point, this is going to be reality. Until then, we get new actors in these roles.

One thing I'd love to see:
The Klingons intercept the S.S. Botany Bay ahead of schedule. Khan dominates a Klingon warship, or perhaps a Klingon colony.

Perhaps given the events of Nero/Narada, the Klingons have begun work on a super-weapon which Khan gets access to. Maybe something related to when the Narada was being held by the Klingons during Nero's imprisonment.

The Klingons find themselves working with the Federation to take down Khan. Prime Directive aside, the Federation feels compelled to get involved, or perhaps the Enterprise does in typical Kirk fashion: Negating the Prime Directive for the better good: The survival of the Alpha Quadrant itself.

I'd LOVE to see Kor re-imagined for this film. Think Desslar (Desslok) from Star Blazers: The villain turned ally by circumstances. Imagine Kor and Kirk working together, in battle. The heroics, the adrenalin, the storytelling potential...

And yes, I can envision Shatner appearing as an older Kirk. Imagine a situation where the elder Kirk gets a message to the younger Kirk (both part of the new timeline/alternate universe), telling how Khan has destroyed and dominated the Federation. Perhaps a lesson for the younger Kirk about continuing to break regulations and do "the right thing" for self-preservation and freedom.

And imagine the elder Spock watching as the timeline itself detours from what it was before... and wanting to correct it again. But should he?

Whenever I see this guy in something no matter how serious it is all I can think of is him as Batmanuel in the live action Tick series. If he would be Khan, I'd just keep thinking of him hitting on Captain Liberty.

At the same time, new universe or not, if the same people find the same guy at the same time period, under the same circumstances, why WOULD it be different? Granted, it would be because they would MAKE it that way, but I don't get why they would waste a movie on a villain that worked based on what they already did. Khan is not a recurring villain like say, the Joker or Lex Luthor. He was basically a two shot deal, and it worked. Khan is getting either negative reactions, or at best, lukewarm reactions from those that don't mind.

You don't see too many, "HELL YEAHs" out there.

Well, he kinda looks like a young Ricardo Montalban. Since I dont watch Lost, I can comment on his acting, but well...
