Leonard Nimoy Says He Believes His Return as Spock is Not Part of J.J. Abrams Plans

MovieWeb posted a new interview with Star Trek star Leonard Nimoy and here is an excerpt.

"I am very happy with the direction J.J. [Abrams] took this particular film. He has a great cast, and he's in great shape. I was fortunate enough to work with an exceptional group of actors, and the fans really seemed to enjoy the film." he said "I don't think there is room for me to return in a sequel. I don't think they need me. I am happy to see Zachary [Quinto] continue on with the role. I don't believe a second film would benefit from me being a part of it. If J.J. asked me to come back, I would consider it. But I don't think it is necessary, nor do I think that is part of J.J.'s plan."

The full interview, in which he also talks about Fringe, is here.

but I disagree with him and I told him this. I think his role in this new universe is pivotal for the destinies of the all the characters and I think he should be included in the next two movies.

Plus, a cameo from Mr Shatner. There. I said it. LOL

I have to say that I agree with Nimoy's conclusion. I'm glad he was part of the transition. A far better way to "go" than for Shatner's Kirk in GEN (which I've just watched again on BD today and overall enjoyed anyway).
Bringing Spock Prime back again could take away the initial achievement of the current movie. It's a new movie franchise now. I don't want Nimoy or Shatner back just for old times' sake. If there isn't a rock-solid purpose to include them, leave them out of the equation!
