DS9's Alexander Siddig to Star in New French Film

Features

By Steve Krutzler / 08:19, 8 January 2007 / People

January 8, 2007: SidCity.net announced today that Alexander Siddig (KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, SYRIANA, HANNIBAL) has joined the cast of UN HOMME PERDU ("A Lost Man"), the second feature film from award-winning director Danielle Arbid.

UN HOMME PERDU stars Melvil Poupaud as Thomas Koré, a French photographer who travels around the world for his research about extreme experiences. During his travels, he crosses paths with Fouad Saleh - played by British-Sudanese actor Alexander Siddig - a solitary and amnesic man. Saleh
disappeared from Beirut 17 years ago and never returned. Intrigued, Koré tries to discover the history of this man, and the experience changes him forever.

The history and especially the character of Thomas Koré is strongly inspired by the photographic wanderings of Antoine d'Agata, the set consultant for Danielle Arbid.

Written and directed by Danielle Arbid, award-winning director of the feature film DANS LES CHAMPS DE BATAILLE (2004), UN HOMME PERDU is an M2 production.

The production films in Beirut, Lebanon (Arbid's hometown), before moving to Jordan and finishing in Paris. Tentatively scheduled for a November 2007 release.

Alexander Siddig recently appeared in the BBC's HANNIBAL as the Carthagan general and in Stephen Gaghan's SYRIANA, with Matt Damon and George Clooney. He will next be seen in the the new season of 24 on Fox and the upcoming film THE LAST LEGION from Dino di Laurentiis. Siddig's other feature film
credits include KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, VERTICAL LIMIT and REIGN OF FIRE. His television credits include the long-running series STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE and a controversial guest role on SPOOKS/MI-5.

SidCity.net is the official website for Alexander Siddig.

Does Siddig speaks french? | Report this post to moderator

Will he speak french in the movie or there'll be subtitles?

Anyone knows if Mr.Siddig knows how to speak Molière tongue, aside from the mandatory "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?", to which I prefer the classic "Chez toi ou chez moi?" or the subtle "Vous la prenez dans le cul?"

Mouahahaha!

Seriously though, I have to say that I admire Siddig's choices. He succesfully blended ethnic typecasting and great roles withtout falling in the stereotypes that cinema often forces unto their audiences.

Go Alex go. You're a great actor!
