Star Trek Enterprise actor Connor Trinneer talks to the latest issue of SFX about the current state of the Star Trek franchise. Here are a few excerpts.

On his opinion why Enterprise was cancelled, the 'Trip' Tucker actor said "Someone said that Paramount went to the well one too many times and our show just happened to be that walk to the well. I tend to agree with that. I don't think our numbers were really that much worse than Voyager or Deep Space Nine -- they were all in the same ballpark -- but the cost-to-viewer ratio of Star Trek reached a point when we were making Enterprise where it was no longer satisfactory to the studio. Star Trek was no longer cost effective."
Concerning Star Trek XI, Trinneer is optimistic and upbeat about its development.
"I don’t know any inside word on the movie," he says. "I've heard the same things as everyone else -- I’ve heard J.J. Abrams is doing it and it will be a young Kirk and Spock. But there's no official word on this, and I know how the Star Trek rumor mill can create stories that don't prove to be accurate, so I'll believe it when I see it."
"I certainly hope JJ Abrams is doing it though," he states firmly. "I think that would be fantastic. And I'm sure Star Trek is going to continue in some form, at some point down the line."
