Notes:
- This is the first of a ten-parter.
- All guest stars in "Penumbra" have appeared in DS9 before. While you may
recognize most of the characters, Saghi is the Bajoran girl who wanted to
be a dais bearer for Sisko's wedding. She previously appeared in "Tears
of the Prophets".
- Sisko has bought 12 hecapates of land in the Kendra Province on Bajor,
a nice place with wild moba trees, and a creek that runs through the
meadow and into the forest. It's just south of the Yolja River, near a
range of mountains. He plans on building a there after the war is
over, and thinks of retiring there some day. In one model house, he
had windows facing south into the Kendra Valley. The soil is perfect for
growing kava; Sisko could make his own spring wine.
- Ezri had dinner with Captain Boday, the Gallamite. The Gallamites
are supplying duranium for the war effort.

There have been a couple of times when the writing wasn't natural. I did
some stuff with Michael Dorn recently where it's just Ezri and Worf,
because we're trapped together somewhere. I knew one thing for sure: that
was important. Ezri and Worf are important for the viewers. They're all
waiting to see what will happen with Ezri and him because of his history
with Jadzia. It was a pivotal scene. Michael and I both worked really
hard because there were a couple of lines where we didn't feel natural or
right or it wasn't working for us. We wanted this scene to work for us.
The writer came down to the set and we all worked with it and we shot the
scene and it worked really well. I think it's going to be a really good
show. You walk away from that thinking you put in a good day's work.
As Sisko revels in the purchase of Bajoran land, where he hopes to finally
build his dream house, word reaches the station that worf is missing in action
after a fierce battle with the Dominion. Due to strategic concerns, Sisko
calls off the search party before Worf can be found. Overcome by memories of
Jadzia's life with Worf, Ezri steals a runabout and goes in search of Worf
herself.
