'Trekkies' Docmentary To Premier March 12

Paramount Pictures will be releasing Trekkies, a documentary about the fans of Star Trek, as a special sneak preview on March 12 in Portland and Indianapolis. The film will open around the country on May 21st. The film has been rated PG.

In this genial documentary, executive producer and host Denise Crosby (Lieutenant Tasha Yar) takes the audience on a tour of the Trekkie galaxy: the conventions, the costumes, the fan clubs, the fanzine writers, even the "slash" writers who have penned "adult" Trek-themed publications featuring homoerotic liaisons between Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock.

The 87 minute motion picture, headed by Neo Motion Pictures, features interviews with Majel Barrett Roddenberry (Nurse Chapel, Wife Of Gene Roddenberry), John de Lancie (Q), James Doohan (Captain Scott), DeForest Kelley (Doctor McCoy), Walter Koenig (Commander Chekov), Nichelle Nichols (Commander Uhura), Leonard Nimoy (Captain Spock), William Shatner (Captain Kirk), George Takei (Captain Sulu), Grace Lee Whitney (Commander Rand), LEVAR Burton (Lt.
